I made this page to show you the 3 free snipping tools I found to be the best. You can download any of them from here and I am sure that you won’t be
disappointed.
What is a snipping tool?
- A snipping tool is a program that you can use to capture screenshots of your computer. It is also called screen capture software, screen recording software, etc.
What can I use it for?
- You can use such a software for many things. Maybe, you just want to show something to your friend from the screen of your computer. In this case the only thing you need to do is to open this program, take a screenshot, save it in the desired file format (jpeg, jpg, gif, etc.) and you can send it to your friend.
- It is actually a sophisticated version of Print Screen. Using the Print Screen button of your keyboard to capture screenshots is sometimes very annoying and you almost never get the results you want.
Ohh, it seems like it really is a useful program. But how much does it cost?
- I only tested free snipping tools so, the answer is nothing. I knew, a snipping tool is not something people want to pay for. That's why I decided not to treat with paid versions.
There are
many snipping tools available on the web. Actually, that is not difficult to
find a snipping tool. However, finding a GOOD and FREE one is a different question.
Basically, I created this site to save you some time.
My first meeting with snipping tools was very simple: I needed one to do a job and it took me a long time to find a good one. I hate spending much time with searching so, it really annoyed me. That's why I decided to help you a bit. I simply don't want you to go through the same process I did.
Here’s what I was looking for when trying to find the 3 best snipping tools:
- Number of downloads
- Ratings, reviews
- My personal experience, testing
After the
first 2 phases I ended up downloading 6 pretty similar programs. Finally, came the most important part, the Testing. I
scored those 6 programs according to the following criteria:
- User-friendliness
- Features
- Speed
As these
are pretty simple programs, I didn't need any more criteria to be able to decide which were the best ones. During the test I was completely objective as I didn't have any interest not to be.
So, here
are the 3 snipping tools I found to be the best:
- Capture Screenshot Lite
- Lightscreen
- Free Screen Capture
These three snipping tools gave me almost the same results, there's not much difference between them. However, if you let me be subjective, my favorite tool was the Capture Screenshot Lite. It is extremely fast, very easy-to-use, and compared to the others, it has the most features as well. This is the screen capturer I use nowadays. However, as I mentioned earlier, the two other tools are also really good. And all of them are free to download and use.
Let's see some details and pictures of these software:
1. Capture Screenshot Lite
It is
undoubtedly one of the best free screen capturers and the same time my personal favorite one!
It has some really cool features:
- Apart from taking full screen screenshots, you can highlight any desired areas and take screenshots only about these highlighted parts.
- You can easily print, share and send these screenshots, after saving it to almost any kind of formats (doc, xls, xlsx, ppt, etc.)
- Not like many other snipping tools, it runs on any Windows version.
The
software doesn't require much place on your hard disk and due to the fact that
it doesn't use much energy, it runs smoothly simultaneously with any other programs. In such a way you can leave it open so that any time you need it you could easily access it.
2. Lightscreen
It is a very lightweight program. It has only a few features but if you are just looking for a program to take screenshots, it does the job very well. The only reason why I prefer the Capture Screenshot Lite to Lightscreen is that that one has much more features. My other issue with this program is that it only saves in 3 formats (PNG, JPG, BMP). However, if it satisfies your needs then you will really like this very handy screen capture.
3. Free Screen Capture
Its name tells everything. It is a really good free screen capture. You can take screenshots of different sizes and shapes just like with the two other programs.
It also has a built-in image editor of which you can see a photo below. It is a really handy image editor and can be really useful if you need to make some basic changes on the screenshot.
Free Screen Capture is also a freeware, there are no hidden fees of using it.
So, these were the 3 snipping tools I recommend you to download. No matter which one you choose, you will be satisfied with its quality.
Simply click the "Download" button below the given snipping tool and you will be redirected to a well-known file sharing site. There you can download a compressed file. Inside you find the installer of the given program. Install it, and you are ready to use it. There are no hidden fees, no trials. You can use any of them till you want.

I regularly check out sites to know if any new versions, updates are available for these programs. In such a way whenever you download any of these three snipping tools from this site, you will get the newest version available.
